Deze pagina's zijn bedoeld als antwoord op de vele vragen die ik krijg omtrent het bouwen en beschilderen van gebouwen e.d. Het valt mij op dat de meeste vragen over metaalconstructies gaan. Vandaar dat ik een 'metalen' voetbrug als voorbeeld heb genomen om zoveel mogelijk vragen te beantwoorden. Hoewel dit model niet op verlichting is voorbereid laat ik zien hoe dit op een redelijk eenvoudige (met wel enige handigheid) manier uit te voeren is.
Is toch nog iets niet duidelijk dan kun je mij altijd blijven mailen. Antwoord verzekerd.

These pages are meant as an answer to all the questions I get on building and painting, of among others, buildings. It occured to me that most questions are about metal constructions. That's why I have taken a metal footbridge as example to be able to answer as many questions as possible. Although, this model doesn't include lighting, it shows that it can be done in a fairly simple way (of course with some handiness!). 		01 De start bij elke bouwkit; een stapel spuitvormen. Lees eerst de handleiding en bekijk tevens alle onderdelen na of de kit compleet is. The start of every kit: a couple of casting mould. Read the manual first and check if the kit is complete.

		02 Snij eerst alle grote onderdelen los met een scherp mesje. First, cut all big parts loose with a Stanley knife.

		03 Alle resten van de spuitvormen goed verwijderen. Door een zachte druk uit te oefenen voorkomt men het uitschieten van het mes. Remove all the remains of the casting moulds as good as possible. When pressing the knife softly, it is less likely that the knife will slip.

		04 Verwijder zoveel mogelijk spuitnaden. Zet het mes rechtop bij het begin van de naad, en haal het mes met lichte druk over de hele naad naar je toe. Herhaal dit een paar keer tot de naad verdwenen is. Try to remove as many seams as possible. Put the knife straight on the beginning of the seam, and move it under light pressure towards you. Repeat this until the seam has disappeared.

		05 Verwijder zoveel mogelijk hechtpunten van de kleine onderdelen zodat er nog maar één hechtpunt vast zit. Remove as many attach points as possible of the small parts, in such a way that only one attach point remains.

		06 Verwijder vervolgens zoveel mogelijk restmateriaal van de spuitvorm. Remove all the leftover material from the casting mould.

		07 Nu kan het beschilderen van de losse onderdelen beginnen. Gebruik voor het roeren van de verf een kleine schroevendraaier. Na het roeren direct afvegen aan een doek. Now the painting of the loose parts can start. Use a small screwdriver for the stirring of the paint. Instantly clean the screwdriver with a cloth after the stirring.

		08 Als eerste onderdeel wordt de "seinpaal" geschilderd in matzwart (Revell 8). The first part to paint is the "signal box" in finished black (Revell 8).

		09 Nadat de eerste laag goed droog is kan het "weatheren" plaatsvinden. Met een "versleten" penseel en grijze verf (ModelMaster flat Gull Gray). Zorg voor niet teveel verf en veeg van boven naar beneden over de eerste laag heen. After the first layer has dried properly, the "weathering" can start, with an old brush and gray paint (ModelMaster flat Gull Gray). Do not use to much paint and strike up and down over the first layer.

		10 Het hekwerk is al voorzien van een inkeping op de hoeken. Vouw de de zijkant eerst goed naar binnen voordat het verlijmd wordt. (Zie 10A) The fencing is already provided with a nick in the corners. Fold the side inside before you put glue on it (see 10A).
